WoPAI joins FiLiA 2025

Oct 16, 2025

WoPAI is proud to take part in this year’s FiLiA Conference, held 10–12 October in Brighton, with the aim of advancing women’s rights through global dialogue. The conference marked FiLiA’s 10th anniversary.

During the session “Women’s Rights in International Law,” the WoPAI panel explored how generations of feminists have fought to codify women’s rights under international law — from the early struggles for recognition, to the adoption of the CEDAW Convention in 1978, and the ongoing efforts to defend these hard-won gains today.

The panel, featuring Anna Zobnina, Susannah Sjöberg, Maria Dmytrieva, Susan Smith, Tatiana Kotlyarenko, and Blessing Okoedion, discussed how patriarchal power systems continue to undermine women’s dignity and fundamental freedoms, and emphasized the importance of global strategic feminist organizing to resist the backlash against women’s rights.
