Women's Platform for Action International

Who we are

Statutes of WoPAI

Women’s Platform for Action International (WoPAI) is an International Non-Profit Women’s Association. We are an umbrella of women’s organisations and informal women’s rights groups globally. We are independent of religious and political affiliations.

Vision of WoPAI

Dark room with a women audience

Our vision is a world where women’s human dignity is respected, and where women and girls fully exercise their rights and freedoms as foundation for a human agreement of our global future.

Values of WoPAI

WoPAI mission is to take action for the acceleration of women’s rights globally.

We are committed to eliminating discrimination, violence, and oppression against women and girls. We promote universal women’s human rights, the recognition of our sex-based rights, while addressing violence against women and girls as a continuum rooted in structural inequalities and applying intersectional analysis. We stand unequivocally against the exploitation of women in prostitution, pornography and surrogacy, and any other form of commodification and objectification of women and girls.

Principles of WoPAI

WoPAI’s principles are solidarity, transparency, sustainability, and independence. Strategic objectives are advocacy, capacity building, combating backlash, improving sex-disaggregated data, and ensuring women remain visible in language and in legal frameworks.

WoPAI focuses on uniting women’s organisations worldwide to strengthen the global women’s movement and create a future of dignity, justice and substantive equality for all women and girls.

Governance

WoPAI’s Annual Assembly, consisting of the delegates of member-organisations, is the highest decision-making body of the platform. WoPAI’s Board is the executive body elected by the Annual Assembly. WoPAI’s office is seated in Stockholm, Sweden.
