We are delighted to have elected the new Chair of board, Ana Sofia Fernandes representing Plataforma Portuguesa para os Direitos das Mulheres (PpDM). WoPAI is looking forward to Ana Sofia Fernandes’s strong leadership, as she brings with her a wealth of experience on international human rights law, institutional mechanisms, as well as a strong commitment to protecting all women from sex-based discrimination and abolishing all forms of male violence against women and girls including prostitution.
“I assume the presidency of WoPAI with a firm commitment to strengthen the political role of the international feminist movement in defining global agendas. In the face of increasing offence against women’s human rights, it is urgent to intensify political pressure among multilateral institutions, ensure accountability mechanisms from States and ensure the full integration of women’s rights and equality between women and men in all dimensions of public policy. WoPAI must always be a clear, demanding and uncompromising voice in defending justice and democracy for all women.”
